Chelsea | Seattle Maternity Photographer

This maternity shoot with Chelsea is extra special because it was taken during Covid-19 quarantine. Prior to deciding to continue with our pre-covid planned shoot, both Chelsea and I were tested for covid to reassure ourselves that we could safely capture this incredibly special time in her life.

We both tested negative, of course, and had a safe plan in place. As much as we would have liked to, unfortunately, postponing a maternity shoot isn’t really an option. Chelsea was already 7 months pregnant (which I personally think is the most ideal time to shoot) and she really wanted to spend her last couple months just enjoying every last moment before her first baby joined the world.

We did the shoot at her beautiful home that is bursting with character and charm. I wore gloves and a mask and kept a safe distance the entire time. Honestly, a maternity shoot is already so overwhelmingly beautiful because I’m staring at a freaking miracle the whole time. To add on top of that the weight of covid, was something we will never forget.

A little backstory… I met Chelsea and her husband at a bar several years ago. We got to chatting and exchanged IG handles and from that point on, Chelsea has been an incredibly devoted fan. She reached out to me as soon as she found out she was pregnant. It’s moments like this that make me love my job even more. The fact that my imagery can have such a profound impact on someone that they remember me when they want to capture a special moment in their lives, is priceless.

These images still fill my eyes with tears. They are wild, raw, and organic. I wish I could share them all with the world but out of respect for the family, I have kept the more personal ones out of this post.
